Have your (Groom's) wedding cake, and eat it too!
The groom's wedding cake!
Let’s face it, weddings are centered on women. Though many grooms are starting to participate in more aspects of the wedding process, the vast majority of planning and preparation is still dominated by the ladies. One aspect of the big day starting to garner a lot of buzz directly for the guys; however, is dessert. Over 20% of couples now have a “groom’s cake” at their wedding and this new trend is starting to spread like wildfire.
You’re already familiar with the standard types of dessert at weddings: wedding cake, candy table, cake pops, chocolate fountain, wedding cupcakes, etc… but the groom’s cake is a whole new addition to weddings sweets. Rather than being the main event which guests partake in, the groom’s cake is presented and set aside specially for the groom. It is a small cake, intentionally shaped to reflect the groom’s personality, and is usually consumed only by the groom and perhaps a couple of the groomsman.
If you and your guy are having a hard time deciding what kind of cake or what type of dessert to offer the wedding guests, the groom’s cake is a fantastic option. Choose a wedding cake that’ll look great for pictures and satisfy the masses, and then design a special cake meant only for your man. Talk with your pastry chef about molding a cake in the shape of a football, guitar, action figure, book, etc…. then pick the grooms’ favorite flavors, and you immediately create a memorable part of the wedding that is meant only for him. The bride gets a lot of attention and almost all the decision making power throughout the wedding process, so this is a sweet way to honor your guy and set him apart.
